Block Paving Driveways in Hoylake

Block Paving Driveways in Hoylake

Block paving is a strong all-rounder on the sandy ground at the tip of the Wirral. Block paving driveways in Hoylake suit both the town's larger detached houses and its smaller period terraces, since the pattern and colour can be scaled to the frontage. Free-draining, links-style ground helps water move away, but we still build a proper sub-base rather than relying on sand alone, because loose sand can shift under blocks over time. Blocks also cope well with coastal weather and can be lifted and re-laid if anything below needs attention. Because the ground is forgiving, the design effort can go into layout, colour and edging rather than fighting the site.

Planning block paving driveways in Hoylake

Sandy ground sounds easy but is not an excuse to skimp on the base. A compacted, correctly graded sub-base and solid edge restraints keep blocks from drifting. Coastal exposure means salt and windblown sand, so jointing sand and sealing deserve thought. Smaller terrace frontages need clever layout so cars, bins and the door route all work. For a new impermeable front surface over five square metres, planning permission generally applies unless it drains to a permeable area, so check with Wirral Council.
