Block Paving Driveways in Widnes

Block Paving Driveways in Widnes

A town shaped by Mersey-side industry has ground that can change from one plot to the next, and in Widnes that is the main reason block paving is such a good fit: it copes with small movements better than a rigid slab, and individual blocks can be lifted and relaid. It suits terraces and estate drives alike, with patterns and colours to match the property. The deciding factor is the groundwork. In Widnes we check drainage and sub-base conditions properly and do not assume a standard build-up will do, because a drive is only as good as what sits beneath it, and the area's flat terrain makes correct falls especially important.

Planning block paving driveways in Widnes

Variable ground means we assess each Widnes site individually, then build a sub-base to suit rather than defaulting to a standard specification. Flat terrain around the Mersey Gateway crossing leaves little natural fall, so water has to be directed deliberately away from the house and the pavement. Under the general rule, a new or replacement hard surface over 5 square metres at the front of a house needs planning permission unless it is permeable or drains to a permeable area. Halton Borough Council can confirm what applies to you.
